Hello, my name is Angelica. I’m not a mum (yet) but I’ve been a ‘second mum’ and ‘big sister’ to many wonderful children over the years working as a professional nanny and teacher. Originally from London, UK where I started my career in childcare when I was 18 years old, my profession brought me to Dubai to work privately for a family 9 years ago. Since then I have grown from nanny to teacher, manager and now childcare business owner and CEO.
Having chosen a career in childcare, I’ve always been extremely passionate and concerned about the upbringing of children at home. Naturally, it was quite a shock for me when moving to Dubai to see how nannies here were not only nannies, but cleaners, cooks and in some cases, the second mother too.
To have such a long list of responsibilities, I thought they’d need to be very well qualified, but it turned out that most nannies have never studied childcare or maternity before and aren’t even first aid trained! This made me feel uncomfortable and I knew I had to do something about it.
How CloudNine Kids Started?
CloudNine Kids was born in January 2018, initially as a training company for nannies and now we also train all childcare workers from play areas, nurseries and kids clubs too. In addition, we have our own team of baby and childcare providers who are trained up to the top standard, supporting families across Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
For any parent that has hired a nanny, most of you will know how challenging and frustrating it can be and there are days when I think ‘WHY! Why did I start this’, not only because of the demand, but there is such satisfaction when providing a wonderful nanny to a deserving family, and they are all so happy and grateful for your support.
Also, because I love training, this is my favourite part. Passing on my wisdom and knowledge to others that need it and can improve in their career benefiting the babies and children in their care. Finally, because I have the BEST team that help keep it all together and are equally as passionate and understanding about families and nannies as I am! I couldn’t do it without them.
